    Apple and Pear storage

    Looking at the amount of blossom on the Apple and Pear trees, 'tis going to be a bumper year so looking at storage solutions.
    I do not have a shed at the moment, even though I have a dilapidated bomb shelter with a concrete roof that may cave in at any moment.
    I was thinking of a wooden 13 tray set up to maybe sit in the chickens more than ample
    waterproof run, only had 2 slight frosts this year that lightly iced their drinking water.
    Any suggestions/ideas?

    I store mine in a box in a wheelie bin ( mouse proof ) in a shady part of the conservatory and can keep bramleys til xmas +, thinking about your storage wheelie bin on north side of the house against the wall out of the sun or in the chicken run

      Remember to only store only the "perfect" ones, e.g. no bruising or marks on the skin, as one bad apple will spoil the lot

      My dad said when he was a kid they use to wrap apples etc up in newspaper, and would be eating them into the new year, my dad as a kid used to go collecting them as it was the only sweet type thing they could have.
      I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

          Just a thought - I wouldn't store too close to chickens in case they eat them. Opportunistic little darlings that they are, I'm sure they'd find some way to take a peck
