  • Anyone grown a honeyberry?

Just browsing through some catalogues and saw the honeyberry (edible honeysuckle).
Can get 3 plants from t&m for £9.99 so seems reasonable as it's cheaper than the blueberries. And my twigs aren't going to be blueberries anytime soon.

Yes I have two lots, they seem very happy in any type of soil.
However I must warn you, I originally bought the T&M ones and you get the teeniest tiniest plants not even the size of a decent plug plant, take at least a year before you can plant them out.
Even my two lots are going to be 2-4 years before I get any fruit (so I'm told)

Depending how much money you have, the dorset blueberry company have an offer on in the autumn where you can buy two mature blueberries for £30...sounds a lot but these are 5 year olds and very well looked after, pretty much guarenteed to give you a couple of pounds of fruit straight away. (Obviously unless you dont look after them)

I've got Honeyberries - got them from DH Brown (think that's correct) First proper crop this year - they are about 2 feet high. Although I've just noticed some caterpillars are chomping on the leaves - so I've just been squishing

Amazon have deals on Blueberries (approx 5 plants for £16 or so) but you won't get a decent crop for a couple of years.

Thanks both, I'll keep an eye out and prep the ground for some proper berry planting next year. Got to clear a patch of nettles :O
