  • aldi cherry tree

    Hi
picked up a cherry tree from aldi today.
strong healthy tree, no ldea about the roostock, but for that price £3.99
I will learn something about it.
variety kordia, it says on the label it's self fertile, kordia however is self sterile if the tree is true to type.
    kind regards
    ioan
Oh yes thay also have the cooking cherry morello, that's a compatible pollinator for kordia, grows on a north
    wall apparently.

It is meant to be on colt rootstock. According to keepers nursery Kordia is self-sterile and morrello is not a suitable pollinator. There is more info on

My guess was a colt rootstock best i could hope for at that price.
keepers do not list morello as a pollinator for kordia, but there are others that do.
the bigger growers list this variety as self sterile, so it's down to the purchaser I suppose.
Thankfully I have a few that will do the job, bought from keepers in fact, can't fault your sources.
Next stop lidl on thursday if info is correct, looking for cherry sunburst ( variety that will pollinate kordia )
Plum tree lizzie, and thats me done and dusted for this year.
          kind regards
