I am on a water meter and my water butt is almost empty after a while with little rain. Is it okay to use water from things like boiled spuds on my veg patch? I can't think why it would not be, suitably cooled of course! But wanted to check.

Veg water on veg patch?

I'm amazed you need to worry about water at the moment - its been chucking it down here in the last few days!
I keep a watering can in the kitchen and a small bowl in the sink. Whenever I run water to wash hands, prepare veg or change the dog's water bowl, it all ends up in the watering can.
On a meter here too

What a good idea and would be safe around the dogs too! I was just about to post asking if anyone knew of ideas to get rid of/keep down the weeds between my block paving. I didn't want to use weedkiller (see above dog problem) but seem to spend hours clearing the weeds. Will use my veg water now. I did read somewhere that if you use soda crystals and then follow with lots of boiling water this would keep the weeds at least managable. My job for today, scrape the weeds out and then put soda down with boiling water just before bed.
