  • Possible to get spare lids for "the original wormery"?

    Hi folks!

My allotment neighbour has one of those grey "original wormery" bins with a tap on it.
As far as I can tell he doesn't use it - when I got the plot back in September it was at the top of his plot, full of junk and rainwater and hasn't moved since.

I think it may be missing the lid - if it's possible to get a spare one for not too much money, I might see if he wants to sell it and put it to use outside my kitchen. So - is it possible?

Also - other than the lid and the grey bin and tap, is there anything else inside or in the lid I should know about so I can make sure I've got it all before I try to use it?

    Cheers.

I think you can ring them, contact details should be on their website Contact Us - How to get in touch : Original Organics Ltd. . There should be a platform/tray inside which stands about 6 inches from the bottom of the wormery.

Should really have thought of that, shouldn't I.
I see they sell a "starter kit" of worms, bedding, lime, a spare tap and instructions. That looks like it might be a handy kit too... if I get the wormery that is. He might have big plans for it yet.

For this winter I also bought a jacket to wrap around the wormery just to keep it a bit warm.

Just for reference in case anyone finds this thread.
I phoned the wormery place (number on their website) and you can get a spare lid for about £10. If I remember correctly, the tray thing that goes near the bottom is about £10 too.
There will probably be a shipping charge on top of that too, but if you're also getting the "starter kit" with worms, bedding, instructions and the likes in it you'll have one anyway.

Selfraising - I saw those jackets on the site. Are they made of something special or could someone with a bit of DIY ability knock something up to do the job?
