  • How much paper

I have been shredding loads of paper and now have 3 big black bin bags full of the stuff. I know you have to get the mix right for compost so how much should I add. I am buying a new bin soon and will start from scratch, my other bin is nearly ready to use I think. Pity I dont have any animals to use the paper for lol.
At last we are having a clear out yay.

Jackie I always layer in my shredded paper - so if I have a 3" layer of wet stuff or green stuff then I put over a layer of the paper as the dry component. Same with bags of stable manure - so the compost contaner is built up with different layers which sit for a while and when you remember, give it a good stir!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I always put a few inches of shredding in the bottom of my compost caddy seems to make emptying it easier.

You could also add it into your bean trench.

Now I like that idea - guess it will soak up all the goo. Off to start that now

I compost all my junk mail, cardboard, packaging etc. If you have any grass, you'll naturally produce more greens than browns anyway, so I find it can take as much paper and cardboard as i can get.
