does anyone know if you can put in small amounts of fresh pony poo to your compost bin. i have some left over and thourgh about putting it in to my compost bin ive justed started for next years compost as i often buy a few bags of the farm manure compost especially for the strawberries raspberries and rhubarb.
the local stable gave me a bag of fresh poo put some in bottom of rhubarb pot to line before the soil potted 2 weeks rhubarb now developing at speed of light has grown more than 8 times its size in 2 weeks has big lush green leaves and strong feeling stalks. there looking elegant.

It will be fine in the compost heap. I wouldn't use it fresh on growing plants though as it can burn them.

thanks flummery its so i use it when well rotten for the strawberries raspberries and fruit bushes as ive bought loads of the compost mixed with horse manure this year, so adding manure to the compost bin bit at a time will give it to me ready mixed next year as only started making my own 2 1/2 weeks ago.
we put about 15 teabags a day in it so in one year over 5500 teabags will have gone in thirsty work this compost, but im mixing greens and browns equally as where a family of five and teabags not my ownly greens.

hi percy

i added fresh and rotted to mine, i am lucky, i got it on tap as we have a pony!! and about 25 horses in the yard!!! i put the rotted that i had left around my raspberries and strawberries.

I have a tip, well hope it is, i squash my pooh to crumble it up and then spread it, its easier than larger dollops (god that sounds disgusting!!)

Good luck

SS
