I have had one in my garden for about a year. Sadly it's battery operated and with the quantity of cats I was getting the batteries would run out in about a month or 2's use. If you want to working constantly it's best to get a mains adapter for it if possible.
I did find it reduced the number of cats in the garden, but didn't eradicate them entirely.

I've just had a new gate put on my side passage which, unlike the old one, doesn't have any large cat-sized holes in and that seems to have been more effective than anything else I've tried.

Are you using it in your garden or allotment? Do you know where the cats enter the area from and is it possible to enclose your patch?

Its for my garden. I also grow vegetables on one part of the garden but that area is already chicken wired and safe. I have a double fence (plant fence + metal fence ) on one side, Though the holes in the metal fence are not big but the cat can reduce their body size while crossing it...

Unfortunately I cannot access the link @ work, but I bought one that runs off the mains along with a PIR. It appears to be working as when a cat passes it, the ultrasonic sound makes them jump then run.

best method I've found for mine is (until I can permenantly bloke the hole at the bottom of the gate to our garden) is to chase the cat around the garden a couple times - there's only 1 way in.

Took me a couple times of doing this, but it's not been back since. It runs from me everytime it sees me now.. harsh, but at least I've a cat poo free garden now

i know someone who had this around the garden to keep the dogs in; result- dogs learnt to jump over a certain hieght to escape the boundary! i would be inclined to keep a bucket of water handy, if you are there often- and aim it to good effect..that might sound mean, but probably not as mean as an electric shock, plus, it is free. also, get some chicken wire to reinforce your fence might be an idea

Who's giving them electric shocks?........Ultrasound is a soundwave that is uncomfortable to the cat/dog. The only electricity involved is the one that the appliance is plugged into.

Have you thought about trying cat shoo a plant that both cats and dogs dislike. It's not cheap but then neither are the battery operated cat and dog repellents.
