Ok peeps, so you know that I'm right up there with Aunty Flum in the Tightwad stakes, so I am rather loathe to jus' chuck take the rickety old bookcase to the tip.
It is about 6' by 4' and I've taken the back off and the shelves out so I'm left with a 'through the square window' affair.
I was rubbing my hands at the thought of my 'ready made raised bed' when I realised that the bookcase is made of chipboard which I'm guessing will be no good as it will disintigrate pretty quickly?
So would you bother using it as a raised bed, for something else or taking it to the tip...?
PS and DON'T say keep it for all of your gardening books as that will only encourage me - I've managed to talk myself out of that!

- when we started digging the area I want to eventually become a veg garden (some done rest not) we found the remains of a whole kitchen!! including 2 double drainer stainless steel sinks! Digging out the carcasses of the kitchen units is worse than clearing the nettles and brambles - can I grow in the remains of the chipboard or is that not a good idea?
