| I'm by no means an expert but I started my wormery off about a month ago and my worms seem fine. It's in a sheltered area but it's been down to at least minus 5 degrees with no apparant ill effects.

| I finally got round to checking on mine this week. I was convinced they would have all perished as I didn't really wrap them up over the winter (even though the wormery is right outside the back door and I stand right next to it when I have a ciggie I still forget it's there!) To my surprise, they were happy as Larry in there and there was a load of eggs too, so I would say that it's not too early to start it off and like SBP said, they tend to go walkies for the first couple of weeks, so check them every day!

| My compost heap, and my Dalek, are absolutely teeming with tiger worms. (where do they come from? I've never dug one out of the soil, but they appear in my compost like magic)

| The best time to start a wormery is as the weather warms up as the worms will be more active and you'll get it up and running quicker. However, you can start them at any time (mine was a birthday present one August so not the best time either) just remember not to feed them much until they're fired up otherwise you'll end up with it going manky!
