Moon Trial
Decided to map out my moon trial and start the ball rolling tonight.
Going to use 4 seed types:
For the root: onion - Ailsa Craig
Leaf: lettuce, Lollo Rossa
Fruit: tomato, Roma
Flower: Broccoli Calabrese
The aim is to sow 3 seeds on the 'correct' night, and 3 on the 'wrong opposite' night.
So, today is a leaf day. I will sow 3 lettuce [correct] and 3 onions [wrong - opposite].
The next set will go in on the 19th, a fruit day so 3 tomatoes [correct] and 3 broccoli [wrong - opposite].
I am going to do this for 3 rounds, from tonight to the 11th April.
I'll collect data on:
first seed germinated
last seed germinated
date planted out [I would like to plant all out the same number of days from sowing if possible].
This should produce 72 seedlings, and all will be grown together, with the same light/heat and when in the ground, fertiliser watering etc.
I'll report back here any findings and then I can confidently say whether the moon has traceable effects on my veg. I'll also post pictures so that others can see what is happening as the trial continues.
Using the Nick Kollerstrom book 'gardening and planting by the moon 2008' book for my moon references.
For monitoring purposes there is a key to the seed being grown.
1,2 and 3 are the prefixes; showing 3 sets of seeds being sown.
a,b,c and d are for the moon sowings [everything done on moon days]
w,x,y and z are for non moon days [everything being done on the opposite day to the correct moon day].

| | Thanks, trying to be unbiased and scientific about it all. Will post photos to compare moon/non moon as soon as seedlings start to emerge. |
