    First non-moon tomato turning red 16th September.

    First moon tomato turning red 17th September.

    They are starting to look a tad blightly; so I'm going to harvest this next moon cycle and weigh total toms on each, and then total of each that get to be eaten. Divided by the number of plants I'll have averages for all.

    So, harvest moons on Weds evening: 17th September 2008
    Harvest non-moons on thursday afternoon: 18th September.

    I took some photos this week.

    Just wanted to pop this on here; it shows the 3 sisters bed, and a small bed of beans with tomatoes in foreground.

    It also shows the huge sunflowers grown from birdseed; they hadn't flowered when this was taken, but have now.

  3. Garlic Moon Trial

    Starts today.

    50 garlic cloves, bought at local veg shop.

    25 moon and 25 non moon.

    Moon cloves, 5 of each to be sown on 11 sept, 9 Oct, 15 nov, 2 Dec and 21 dec.
    Non-moon, 5 of each to be sown on 16 sept, 15 oct, 18 nov, 7 dec and 24 dec.

    All sets of cloves will be weighed before planting and after harvesting next spring/summer and after 24 hours drying.

    Soil prep, they are going into bed 1 at the lottie, which ...

    Last Lettuce are now out.

    Will be putting all Calabrese out on the next relevant days. These are going into the allotment as they are long term crops.

  5. Moon Trial day 84

    I am planting out all the moon trial veg now. Today, it is a NO PLANT day - so to take advantage of this I am planting out all the non-moon veg. The moon veg will be planted out over the next 9 days on its correct day.

    I have taken a photo of all the veg this morning. The moon veg are on the right hand side and the non-moon are on the left.

    Differences so far:
    moon toms have overtaken in height the non-moon
    lettuce and onions - no difference at all ...
