Notes and thoughts and sometimes photos of my attempt to tame my overgrown allotment; and hopefully one day grow fruit and vegetables on it.
Trying to Catch up, Sowing Peas and Mixed Lettuce.

Nice surprise when visited the allotment on Monday and
saw how much of the plot my helpers had cleared while I cooked their Sunday lunch.
This week planted more peas which I hope will survive the neglect of the next couple of weeks. Also made a make do and mend version of a raised bed from lawn edging and sowed mixed lettuce leaves in organic compost in it. I intend to harvest this by picking leaves as and when ready and needed, rather than cutting the whole lettuce. This method worked well in grow bags last year so I am hoping it is successful at the allotment.
The basil seedlings are growing, I sowed the seeds in compost in peat pots to use as a substitute to the ones sold in the suppermarket, which do not thrive for long in my kitchen. I am caring for the seedlings on the kitchen window sill and am looking forward to using the leaves in salads and in passata pasta sauce.
Strawberry plants in the garden are now flowering well. I am tempted to buy a two tier plastic mini greenhouse for my seedlings to replace the three tier one that got wrecked in a storm; is it likely to be more stable as it is not as tall and wider? Not sure still thinking about that.
The water is on at the allotment
now so that makes things easier.
