Notes and thoughts and sometimes photos of my attempt to tame my overgrown allotment; and hopefully one day grow fruit and vegetables on it.

Not winning but not quitting either.

Wish they had let me have my plot last Autumn then I might have cleared more of it before the grass, weeds, and brambles took off this Spring.

The part of the plot I've managed to clear is doing quite well with two lots of potatoes growing, shallotts, peas, beans, salad and a few carrots but the uncleared part is having a ' field day'. Each time I visit which is not as often as I'd like to or need to I make sure I start by hoeing with a hand hoe or dutch hoe the part that is planted up. Then what time is left after that I plant, sow (Rocket and Pak Choi last week) then clear and tidy up a bit of the overgrown parts but my progress is not quick enough to make much difference to the worst areas.

I am not willing to quit though especially as we have had some great rhubarb since the Spring and our first salads from the lettuce I planted there. I am happy that if I can clear it and plant it a bit at a time I will make progress it is just a bit overwhelming when the rain makes the weeds grow so quickly.
