Got to the plot because I knew I wouldn't for the next couple of weekends and planted some shallots and early carrots (Nantes). Tried to make sure the carrots were well spaced to cut down on thinning out.
Went over all the bare beds with a swoe. I can finally see some progress on the breaking up of the clay as a result of adding organic matter over the last couple of years since there are much fewer large clay lumps in those I've concentrated on.
A couple had become rather overgrown so did these by hand.
Added some compost to those beds that haven't had much.
Planted runner beans, blue lake beans (both soaked in water for a few hours), early cauli's and brussels, patio chilli's, and tomatoes in unheated propagators on bay window sill.
