Slightly damp !

Got home at three this morning so lay in bed til 8. Then up and at 'em again. So much for the forecast torrential downpour - 2 hours light drizzle was all it amounted to !! However, did get quite a bit done today. Took down the windbreak netting from round my runner beans, dismantled 20 of the wigwams that had dead or dying plants on them and put the canes into storage, dug over some more of the recently vacated ground in the tunnel and transplanted radicchio, fleeced over my chilli plants that...

Not enough rain !!

Another day, another headache !! Too much of Mr Morgans last night before bed !
Anyway, Unpleasant Pheasant is no longer with us - he apparently attacked Finlay (the farmer I rent from) and his wife last night and as a result died from a serious overdose of lead.
On a more sombre note, Barry, the stonemason who lives in one of the farm cottages and whose 40th birthday party we were at last week, had a stroke last night just before midnight. No further news at the mo but...

Still no rain

Well, the forecast is for rain tomorrow - hope they get it right this time - 3mm in the last 5 weeks isn't much is it ? My beetroot needs lots of rain soon - the tap roots are a ridiculous length already. I dug a hole this morning out of curiosity and the ground is dry to a depth of 7"

Right folks
As you may or may not know, I jacked my last job in February and started growing veg for a living. So far so good, I'm making a living - not much profit but if I can survive this year with the weather we've had, I can survive pretty much any year. In addition, I now have a much better idea about what grows and what sells and how much more (or less) I need to sow of each veg / variety next year.
