It's Rainin again !!

Posted 05-12-2007 at 09:17 PM by sewer rat
Pissin it down all day - cleared my shed (again), placed order for eggs, watered polytunnel plants then came home and made two jars of concentrated chilli sauce and 12 jars of PW's Onion Marmalade.
Tonight I'm designing the labels for my chutneys etc and my soups for the Farmers Market a week on Saturday, then producing the monthly newsletter for the local gardening club - I am secretary in absentia as they meet on Monday nights and I have veg box deliveries so can't attend - but still produce...

Posted 02-12-2007 at 10:29 PM by sewer rat
So far my snares have reduced the population by 11. Not much but it's a start.
Not done a lot at the field this weekend. Just go and check snares, make up any telephobne orders for small deliveries, drop them off anfd go home, catch up on paperwork etc. Was dragged to Inversneckie to do a bit of Christmas shoppin - never going back again - just can't be bothered with all that faffin about, and the traffic etc. I'm the kinda guy that sees something buys it and that's it done. 'Kin Wabbits

Posted 28-11-2007 at 10:39 PM by sewer rat
But first the weather - still rainin !!
Rabbits have returned with a vengeance -they have now destroyed approx 60% of my Brussels Sprouts plants -the time has come to wreak havoc - the odd night shooting is no use anymore - and I can't keep going out late at night as the 7 month pregnant wife complains. So today, I walked the wire (boundary fence) between my field and the quarry banking and put down 74 snares on recently used runs - early start tomorrow to see what I've got. Other than that...

Mud, mud, glorious mud

Posted 26-11-2007 at 11:10 PM by sewer rat
Well here we are, it's still raining though considerably milder than it has been for a while. The road into my field is now beginning to resemble a 4WD test track . Never mind, will get it sorted out and hardcored over the winter months.
Not doping much othet than keeping an eye on what crops I have left in the ground (cabbages, leeks, swedes, celeriac, PSB, kale) and in the tunnel (calabrese, PSB, kale, radicchio and winter lettuce) and sorting paperwork and making up and delivering...

A wee bit wet.........

Posted 21-11-2007 at 09:21 PM by sewer rat
And they're forecasting snow (quite a lot of it) tomorrow, so decided I'd start to take up the slack in my polytunnel cover which has been a bit flappy at one end since April
Note to self - do this on a dry still day, do not wait til it is lashing down and wind is from the North . Anyway, got the guilty end tightened, got very wet and very muddy and p*ssed off so came home early. Ordered jars and cartons for chutnies, pickles and soups on the interweb, got renewal form for Firearms...
