Posted 06-04-2008 at 11:27 PM by sewer rat
You name it I've had it - snow, sleet, hail, rain, sun - every day for the last three days.
Anyway, after some delays due to non-arrival of compost, I have finally started sowing in the tunnel, both for myself and for my GC orders.
So far, I have sown; 960 Hispi Cabbage, 920 Minicole Cabbage, 320 Derby Day Cabbage, 920 Golden Acre Primo Cabbage, 1200 Marathon Calabrese, 216 Little Gem Lettuce, 216 Saladin Lettuce, 216 Red Salad Bowl Lettuce, 432 Green Salad Bowl Lettuce, 80 Amorina...

Oh yeah, and I think I may have found myself a Ferguson potato planter - the one where two assistants (preferably willing but if they're not, I don't care) sit on the tractor mounted machine and drop a seed tattie down the spout every time the bell rings. Still no cover on my tunnel - and not likely to happen before the middle of next week if the forecast is to be believed. It was somewhat breezy up here today - at one point I thought I was gonna lose my store as well as my tunnel !!
Anyway, the tunnel is all set for when the weather breaks, base rails raised, trenches dug, bolts tightened, doors removed etc etc.
Last Saturday at the Farmers Market - as I said, I had been forewarned that someone mmight make an issue of me selling some...

Still no sign of the wind abating so my tunnel is still bereft of covering .
