April Fool Weather

Posted 05-04-2008 at 03:25 PM by rustylady
Well, it's the fourth of April and just when I thought Spring was here it's gone back to Winter. Still the garden's looking good, the spring flowers have been great, daffs, snowdrops, crocuses and anemones. The tulips are now open or opening, depending on variety, and the magnolia is in flower. The forsythia and camellia were about a week earlier to bloom this year than last. Went to the lottie today, and it's not looking too good. Overwintering onions and garlic looking OK, had to weed the bed as the ruddy weeds appear to be the only things actively growing, but the bored beans have been very windblown. Flowers on but the plants don't look too good. Is it worth overwintering, I ask myself. We'll see if the crops are any good. Dug some more leeks. They're lovely but should have been planted deeper. Still very wet over there, so the spuds may go in next weekend.
