This year - The year of the great Plan

Posted 09-01-2008 at 01:42 PM by rotorvator
Due to my problems of last year i have spent a great deal of time over the winter coming up with a plan that as Baldrick would say is a sunning as a fox thats been to cunning college and done a degree in cunning

As this blog is as much for me to remember what im doing as it is for you all to enjoy bits may be a bit listy like this bit

What do i want to grow this year

Eggs - Yep im getting six chicken this year
Potatoes - as many as i can fit in the ground as i use tonnes each year (partly due to me hating pasta)
Garlic
Onions - again i use a lot in cooking
Shallots "
Pickling onions - as i seem to of taken over as the family supplier of pickled onions
Leeks

Carrots - ill try to find time to thin them this year
Parsnips - My personal favorite veg

Runner, french & Broad beans
Peas

Sweetcorn - Shotgun hand to keep the birds off this year

Brassicas - not sure what types yet - Red cabbage a must as i cant get enough

Fruit

Strwaberry & raspberry - ill finish the fruitcage this year

Also i am in negotiations with my neigbour to take their old greenhouse off their hand so if i can get it ill be growing

Toms
Peppers
Cuecumber
Caugette (sp)

Also in pots ill grow
New pots
Salad leaf
Spring onion

Not decided yet what will go on the lottie but me & my parents are thinking of crops that dont need a lot of care this year till we know how much time we have so it will probably be Potatoes, onions etc with the crops that need more care at my place where i can get to them daily. Also they have only given us a 1/2 plot but the 1/2 next to us is vacant too so im hoping we can get our hands on it and combine the two as the plot we have does to give us a lot of growing space and absolutly no space for a shed or poly tunnel

Sorry if this has been a bit of a dull few opening posts but i promise it will get more interesting once i have got into the garden and have some more to report.

more soon
