Week 4 - this time its planting...

Posted 22-01-2008 at 10:18 AM by Herbgardener
Oh dear,

I cracked last night, just saw that packet of mini peppers sat there and it was talking to me, sow me, sow me... so being a gardener of little brain I succumbed! Just had to sow a dozen california wonder at the same time.

This may not be quite as daft though as it first seemed.. having had a good nose through lots of the forum posts yesterday they all seemed to be saying that peppers really need a good early start. I figure that we are nearly into February...

Week 4

Well,

It's week 4 and managed to get a little bit more done in the garden.... the really good news is that the first of the strawbs have started sprouting today :-) they are so tiny though, pricking them out could be a little tricky.... having heard stories of 2-3 weeks germination and low germination rates I'm really encouraged by this positive start.

Emptied out a third of the compost bin into the new bed at the weekend, quite impressed with the apparent quality...

Daffodils and primroses in bloom in the garden, despite the bottom still being flooded. We noticed ducks perching on log islands in the "lake" that is the water meadow - only high ground! Cycled out to North Ripley today - most farmyards still pretty flooded. Decided that nut and/or fruit trees could go by old front door to make orchard there rather than block our view over the meadows.
