Week 4 - at it again..

I couldn't help myself.. honest I couldn't guv'ner, they were just there on the shelf, if I hadn't have done it someone else would, I bought some cayenne pepper, cos lettuce and perpetual spinach today.. Never tried growing lettuce before but think I might just try some early in the greenhouse - you never know, especially with the weather patterns we've been getting.

The cayenne can join the jalapeno's from last year, so this year we'll have the sweet californias, the sweet minis...

Where to Start???

Finaly started gardening today. It was wonderful after months of decorating, packing, moving etc. Dug over half of the shrub bed that is to be veg plot. Started a leaf collection to make leaf mould. (My first, sitting in plastic bin in greenhouse tonight.) re-cycled the shrubs to garden waste and am planning to move over a couple of wee fir trees to edge as windbreaker.mmmm not sure whether they'll mind. Planning to find answer in book asap. Meanwhile organic book, bits of paper scrawled notes and...

Week 4 - A new plan

Well I was reading through some of the articles on this very website yesterday and looked at what was recommended for January planting; the peppers I planted yesterday haven't started sprouting yet by the way.

The strawbleberries are coming through thick and fast though, not quite up to the 130 or so that I need, but getting there all the same. Did I mention I liked strawbs???

Anyway it seems that lettuce and spouts and radishes might be an option - if they can be...

Forget the weather

OH hospitalised last night due to high blood pressure - baby Niamh due to make her appearance a week on Sunday. Thye let OH home this evening - next check up on Thursday ! So not much going on workwise - got another 4 box orders yesterday -= 49 a week now. This weeks boxes will contain potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage, leeks, swedes and sprout tops.
