The warmest day yet... and no rain!!

Posted 31-03-2008 at 07:32 PM by Marthaclematis
..and I'm off work so spent lots of time weeding and hoeing and deadheading and cutting back what I could of the spreading plum tree (and a bit of bramble too.) As it didn't rain I also fed the potatoes with Tomorite. I thought it was still a bit damp to mow the grass but will do that later in the week if it doesn't rain again.
Anyway I'm so happy that spring really has sprung. I had to take my fleece off when working today and was still hot. I've left a message with a 'Mr Tipper' to...

first 3 non-moon tomatoes are up. [1z]

7 days to germinate

Exactly the same length of time as the first moon tomatoes. These however are not as leggy so far.

Potted some Vales Emerald potatoes in three B & Q orange buckets. Lovely, sunny day - m&d came to move their caravan and we even ate lunch outside! Day spoilt rather by T being very upsetting - oh, the joys of teenagers - charming again by this evening, but I still feel shell-shocked and so hurt. Ora pro nobis.

Rhubarb

Posted 30-03-2008 at 09:55 PM by maureensargent
Please can anyone tell me why my Rhubarb has gone to seed immediately - before I've even been able to pick a single stick. Last year it was forced, this year however it was supposed to be resting !

Seeds

Posted 30-03-2008 at 09:26 PM by rssimon@tiscali.co.uk
I am hoping to grow nearly every veg and fruit from seed and I would like to produce my own seeds.

When collecting seeds whether it be plum seeds or runner bean seeds.
Do you have to dry out the seeds before planting or can you plant them straight from harvest?
