Well, we've had winter, spring, winter, spring, winter and now spring again. Been recording first flowering etc for a few things, and it seems that most stuff is an average of a week earlier than last year. Now have daffs open, tulip buds showing, flowers on the camellia. Snowdrops are finished. Buds just showing on the apple and the plum. The lawn hasn't stopped growing all winter, but the guinea pigs have coped with it so I haven't had to mow. Won't be long though, I think.

So glad...

Hello! Really excited that I have stumbled across this fantastic community site. Always enjoyed gardening but this year my enthusiasm threatens to engulf me and, by association, my family and work colleagues, who are subjected to daily, in-depth reports on the progress of my seeds. "Excuse my juvenile display of excitement...", I begin apologetically, "but my sweet pepper seeds have come up. ALL of them - and so have my palmarosa seeds".
"Palmarosa?", they...

A Right Tangled Plot.

Posted 06-03-2008 at 02:35 PM by thyme
I went to the allotment for the first time. There is a chance that it will be cleared for me and offered as a tidy plot. It is overgrown with brambles and grassy stuff and very uneven at the moment.

My impatience got the better of me today; I could not wait to see if they will clear it because lets be honest I've started to buy 'things' for it. Things like four raspberry canes that I saw on offer, which are now heeled into my flower border in the garden and starting to grow. Oh,...
