Not sure How long i am going to be able to keep this up to be honest, between posting and a lovely little diary i found for my computer, But come the spring planting i do want to keep a track of how it's going for anyone thats interested.
In the meantime, whilst i am preparing the garden, I will try and post some before and after pics of how things are progressing.

Catching up with stuff...

... just a little. We pulled out all the nasturtiums yesterday and dh chopped back a lot of the oregano. I deadheaded all the gladioli (except one still with some blooms) and dh pulled all the poppies - if they self seed next year then that's ok but we're not too bothered. I also cut back the lavender, moved some pots to their winter position and watered everything - the pots really did suffer whilst we were away. The books say to lift the glads and store them over winter but I'm going to take...

Back from holiday.... you'd think we'd been away for months.

.. we've been to the US for 18 days and we must have had some sun and not much rain here because the pots were all dry, the grass has grown a lot, the honeysuckle has gawn' sprawling over next doors fence and the nasturtiums have gotten really large (we should have pulled them before we left). There are blackfly all over the gladioli and my poor potted fern looks like it is dead (I've put it into a container full of water). My Lilac too was in dire need of a long drink. Not well

Posted 27-09-2008 at 02:02 PM by allotmentlady
Not been well recently, not even been able to go to plot, so this week I made a good go of it, cleared out both greenhouses and cleared a few beds. The skip is coming in 2 weeks, so I am moving rubbish towards the gate! Gordon hasnt been well, so I have been doing most of it on my own. Runner beans are still producing and I have lifted squashes, gourds and pumpkins and they are ripening in the greenhouse. It looks so empty in the greenhouses, reminds me the end of the season is here.

Today is my first blog.

I moved house recently and whilst I had a garden before I always had to do the obligatory jobs like cutting the grass and just trying to keep everything tidy whilst looking after the kids and running them here there and everywhere.

Now I have time to take full interest in the garden and want to make the most of it before my ailing health takes over.

I started sowing about the middle of April, as a complete newbie to the veg market....
