Pumpkins doing well

Posted 11-08-2008 at 04:25 PM by milly2306
my pumpkin plant is taking over my garden! i only grew it so the grandkids might have a pumpkin to carve for halloween! it's huge and has about 10 fruits on it. i know serious growers remove all but one so they can grow giant ones but i'll be happy with 4 small ones for the kids.
yesterday i planted out my spring bulbs in the flower garden, can't wait to see them. also got some great bargains in half price seed sale at local gc. bought some berry type fruit seeds that are supposed to taste...

I've got a melon!

Posted 28-07-2008 at 02:03 PM by milly2306
ecstatic, i actually have a decent sized watermelon on my plant. this is my first time growing any kind of melon and i am well chuffed. just hope it continues with my new baby melons that are appearing. i must admit i went a bit daft when pollinating it, i must have put about 10 male flowers to the female one!
Beginners luck i think!!

Finally today my pumpkin has it's first flower. Flipping thing is taking over my garden, never realised they grew so big! Hopefully female flowers will come along soon.
