Jolly July....

Posted 20-07-2008 at 07:43 PM by Marthaclematis
Well, I have to say that I'm very proud of my little garden this summer. Its been hard work, and still takes up a lot of time mowing and watering but other than that there's not much to do but sit back and enjoy. And we do - we're out there every evening, sipping fizz in between waterings (I use a two gallon can) and helping the honeysuckle (for that's what it is) to find its way sideways - it wants to go over the fence but I'm not having it. The rose too it almost 5ft against the trellis and...

....time is moving on

Posted 02-06-2008 at 12:10 AM by Marthaclematis
..(continued ...) No, next year I think I'll make things a little easier for myself. No potatoes, no growing from seed and nothing which needs staking. And the tubs which are now empty (where the bulbs were) will stay empty - I have far too many things in containers and it takes me nearly an hour each evening to water them all. Wood pidgeons are taking great delight in pecking at the branches of the plum tree. I 'ground' some poppy seeds in the ground at back with my foot - I brought a seed head back from Carcassonne in France and it an experiment to see if they come up. The lawn needs...

sunny saturday

Posted 03-05-2008 at 06:23 PM by Marthaclematis
.... we've spent all day outside. We dug out a small bed and planted a small lavender next to the french one (which is now in flower) and I planted the two geraniums (present from PJ) next to them. I also topped up the hole in the lawn and put more grass seed down. Oh, and as the seedlings are well on their way I put five of them in their bio-pots in. The soil isn't good where I've put them so its an experiment really. I wish I knew what they were. Silly me didn't bother, thinking, 'I don't...

Yesterday was the warmest day yet....

Posted 27-04-2008 at 02:42 PM by Marthaclematis
Very sunny and about 70 degrees it seemed. we were busy with house and garden. Walked miles yesterday finding the plumbers merchant but were rewarded eventually by the biggest array of bathroom equipment I've ever seen! We bought a shower, a pump and a screen. Then we walked to the Dreams Beds and bought two singles for the spare room. The wallpaper is got and the paint colours chosen. Oh and tiles too, we've chosen them. On the garden front all the bulbs are now planted and all the seeds...
