Strenuous Sunday...

Posted 20-04-2008 at 08:43 PM by Marthaclematis
Sunday 20th April - raining again and so I've still had no chance to mow the grass. I have been working though, we bought a big pot and I've potted the Acer Palmatum, it looks quite dramatic dark red in its black metal effect 'vase'. DH has been busy too since he's been at home, he's lopped a lot of the plum tree and sawing up the wood for the wildlife bit at the back. I received 130 bulbs (various blues) and 5 packets of seeds from the Telegraph (after they told me the offer was over-subscribed) so that was a treat. I now have 78 biopots with compost and seed waiting to sprout in the downstairs lounge. The ones I sowed last week are beginning to sprout already and half of the bulbs are in a trug, I think I may have planted the smaller bulbs too deep but we'll see. I still have some to put in the bed next week. Other than that we've tidied and swept the patio and put everything in its place (for now). I read that potatoes don't like to be moved so they'll stay where they are now till harvesting. Nothing to do now but mow the grass once its dry enough and plant out the seedlings (in about 4 weeks) and the bulbs as soon as we like.
On the 'home' front we've finally decided to sort this house out. We've booked the decorator, chosen the paint and one wallpaper and will see the floor man next week. Come summer I may want to show off both my home AND garden. We've only been here two years, grrrrr.
