Tilling Tuesday (not to mention digging and weeding)
Posted 25-03-2008 at 04:11 PM by Marthaclematis
Tuesday 25th March
Day off today, extended bank holiday. Yesterday we went to the garden centre determined not to buy any more plants but ended up buying a climbing rose 'Iceberg' to grow up the shed. We got the compost we needed and a trellis for £3 in the sale. Anyway I'm aching now as I've spent the day digging and weeding - I dug a hole for the rose and that's now in. I dug a hole for the other climber (who's name I don't know) - the one we bought last year and neglected in its pot, it didn't die so I'm giving it a chance in the boarder. The first hole I dug had an electric cable in it, I was just about to chop it with the secuteurs when I realised! Then I dug yet another hole and planted the virburnun. I've put it behind the lavender so it won't block it out. I then weeded at the back (ferny things, came up quite easily) and once the compost arrived I topped up the potatoes in the pots - they're nearly all sticking up through the soill now. Not all of them; I hope the ones that haven't are not rotting due to all the rain. Yup. Still raining. Got a good soaking in Brighton at the weekend. Great hotel though so not complaining.
