Got to the nursery this morning to dwell over their potato bins. Finally came away with first earlies, second earlies and maincrop - enough to fill one bed this year. Last year I think I spaced them too close together and with the wet weather most of them succumbed to blight. Had little chance to do much over the past few weeks but managed to get one or two jobs done last week.

Previous tennant had left lots of old timber boards on the plot which I cleared to one side and left to dry out last year, even so they still attracted lots of slugs and wood lice so I decided to burn them and use the ashes on the compost heap. Well not so much as a break more like a change of interests.

Plans for our retirement mean that the house we have in Scotland needs to be sold so that we can concentrate on looking for "the one".
