Lotsa shallots
Posted 17-07-2008 at 12:28 PM by Cutecumber
I harvested my first two pots of shallots at the weekend.
They were Matador and Ambition, grown from seed, and look spankingly healthy.
To be honest, they're a lot bigger than I anticipated - twice the size of the ones you see in the supermarket.
Let's hope they taste as good as they look!
Meanwhile, harvesting is in full swing:
potatoes
carrots
lettuce
tomatoes
cabbage
chard
beetroot
courgettes
Still to come are the first sweetcorn, parsnips, fennel, squash and runner beans.
I've been luckier than some with the weather - not too much rain, but fairly warm - which has been perfect.
