Little bit of heaven

Hello there,

Well another bank holiday weekend has come and gone, with only a small time on the allotment, thanks to the lovely weather! Mind you have planted a much wanted herb bed in the garden. Tended the now crowded greeenhouse, which appears to be bursting with tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes and flower seedlings. Ambled around the garden centre, making a mental wish list of my next purchases and some book buying (gardening) of course along with the odd glass of wine!!! Bliss....

At last at home after the daily grind, what a comfort to get out into the garden. Rushing down to the greenhouse, to see what little seed has made its way to sunlight. Never would have dreamed as a youngster that I would have found this activity remotely interesting.

Glad to report on the Tomato famine, at last a couple of seeds have 'hatched' and are growing well. Perhaps the warm spell had some impact, thanks to the commenter on my Tom Less blog, you were right they just needed...

Weekend woes

Posted 27-04-2008 at 09:09 PM by Auntyrynam

Well another weekend has come and gone, had a great time on the allotment and garden. Potatoes finally in, me and hubby on our hands and knees well grounded I call that. Have some really good neighbours on the site, very friendly and helpful there really is a sense of community which is sadly lacking these days!!

In the greenhouse we have been busy, thought we would start our cabbages, sweetcorn and brocoli, well I am new to this lark, any thoughts?

So excited...

Well this is not what I had planned. This is not what happens on Gardeners World, you would not see this happen to Monty, oh no!

I have no Toms, 'Oh my word No Toms' you say.

How easy can this be says I.
1. You order the seed, 'well that looks about right' you smile.
2. You otain all the necessary equipment, 'mm let me see, tray, compost, seeds, watering can that looks right'.
3. Then you stand back and wait.... and wait..and...wait... and...

Hello, anybody there?

I am new to the world of allotments, having only had our plot for one season, with a modicam of success. We now approach another funfilled, fruitful (hopefully) year; if I can get my head around crop rotation, sowing schedules, bugs, advice and not to mention the time. Is anybody else baffled by the differing advice in gardening books, magazines and of course our fellow allotmenteers. We have decided on mainly raised beds, (to the consternation of the 'old...
