Finally managed to get to the lottie with only one grandchild. Warm and sunny - planted first early spuds (Arran Pilot). Cleared some more ground and burned lots of olds weeds and wood. Hoping to get back again tomorrow to carry on clearing ground. Aquadulce bored beans looking OK, Sutton useless, won;t bother overwintering again.

At home I've sown runner beans and courgettes today, also all the tomatoes are now in cell trays. Chillies germinated, but not ready to pot on....

Help with digging.

Posted 25-04-2008 at 08:36 PM by sharonr
Made it into the veg patch for a few hours today.
Managed to do some digging with some help (or not) from the dog. Wherever I dug she would bury her teddybear, then dig it up, then bury it again and so on. (yes it is sort of fenced of but its only a temperary fence and she mas knocked some of it down.)
Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to re-fence it so that I can put in my broadbeans and peas.

Well this is not what I had planned. This is not what happens on Gardeners World, you would not see this happen to Monty, oh no!

I have no Toms, 'Oh my word No Toms' you say.

How easy can this be says I.
1. You order the seed, 'well that looks about right' you smile.
2. You otain all the necessary equipment, 'mm let me see, tray, compost, seeds, watering can that looks right'.
3. Then you stand back and wait.... and wait..and...wait... and...

Rhubarb and the never ending growing carpet.

Still not feeling great but managed two hours at allotment yesterday and an hour and a half today. Because of how I feel noticed for the first time that my half plot looks bigger now than when I got it, probably because I now know how hard it is to clear even a small area that is covered in carpet with grass and weeds on top growing through the carpet and rooted through to the soil. I still love being there though and enjoy the visit from the blackbird and seeing the half of the plum tree that does...
