  • New allotment site at Essington, S Staffs / West Mids boarder

    Hello

Does anyone have any information, or gossip, about the new allotment site at High Hill, Essington?
I drove along there the other day to have a peep but I could only see a stretch of muddy land, with tiny mountains of seemingly strategically placed heaps of debris.
I am not looking for a plot at the moment - I want to get some experience under my belt first with containers and a small veg patch in the back garden so I know exactly what I'll be letting myself in for - I'm just being nosey.

    Thanks

Residents living in the South Staffordshire village of Essington can now sign up to rent allotments, after the Bushburry Trust gave the go ahead. Local councillor David Clifft, who spearheaded the project, said: "I presented a report for the trustees at a meeting on behalf of Essington Allotments Association for the two acre site at High Hill, Essington, which was approved by the committee."
"The cost of the project will be around "80,000 which will be met from grant applications. We have already secured "24,000 for the project." "The site will accommodate around 50 allotments, which will range in size depending on the needs and capability of the owner." Residents will be able to rent a plot from January 2015. Anyone wishing to do so should register at The Parish Office at Essington Community Centre, or call 01922 711608.
