  • Variety of strawberries for jam?

    Hi all
I am developing raised beds at my plot, one of which will be for strawberries (and my 15 year old son is going to be looking after them under supervision). In the past when I've grown a few strawberry plants, there has been the odd bowl full to eat and the strawberries have developed 4 or 5 at a time.

However, this bed will be 3m x 1.2m and my aim will be to predominantly make jam with them although it would be nice to eat a few with cream over the summer

Can anyone recommend a variety that works well with jam that crops heavily within a short period of time please. Or recommend a variety that I could have a few plants of that might give me a longer fruiting period for the ones that will end up in the bowl

    Thank you

Mine are mainly Alice (unfortunately they've all got mixed up so I'm not sure what the others are) you might also try some "everbearing" ones and alpine, whilst they're only small, they do tend to have a stronger flavour (in my opinion).
