  • Pond silt

Hello all,In past years when I have cleaned out my pond I have used the silt in pots and hanging baskets (smells a bit at first but soon wears off!!). As a new allotment holder I am wondering best way to use this on plot. Just spread on top and dig in, incorporate into compost heap or use for potting, sowing etc. Any thoughts most welcome

i usually add mine to the compost .... though i did give last years to my courgettes and squash and they loved it ... well they didn't run off screaming i just poured it on as a soggy mulch and they did really well.

I always chuck mine in the compost along with all the blanketweed and surplus water cress, have to add card board and newspaper to dry it out a bit but it makes great compost
