first strengthen the roof! A little bit of soil on the roof or wet grass is suprisingly heavy!

First you have to build something to contain the soil - ie bit of 2x1 or it will just wash off, Then you need to allow for drainage (bear in mind that too big holes will wash soil away also). Because the soil is so thin ( otherwise too much wieght) you may have to water whatever is growing there in the summer. You also have to have some way of getting up there to plant bearing in mind that the shed roof wont take your weight as well as the soil unless it is really strengthened. I did it once to a garden shed at home and it looked very nice and lasted about three months as it was so much work to maintain in the summer that I gave up on it!

i believe you can get a special roll from the diy stores that you lay over your roof and sprinkle your seeds on and then let it grow no idea what its called though
