That's brilliant. Very lucky to get a worked allotment. I cant really give you any advice rather than dive right in and give it a go like Jackarmy says I'm still learning myself.

Best of luck with it all

Where I am I applied for a plot and 3 months later I got a phone call to ask me to meet the guy in charge to view 4 vacant plots, three of them were overgrown and the one I took was half covered in black plastic, had a brick path already down and small beds done on one side plus a wooden compost bin. The council also gave me free a plastic compost bin as well, so I decided to move the wooden one down to the opposite end with the plastic one. In the process of digging the ground after moving it found a massive rhubarb crown which I relocated next to the wooden compost bin, had a bumper crop of rhubarb last year as a result.

Well done on getting a plot.

I personally would rather have an unworked plot though where I can put my own stamp on it! I know its more work, but the sense of achievement does it for me Clean a bit, plant a bit, ad infinitum.
The other reason is that with a worked plot you are more likely to adopt the previous occupants plan which I would find very boring.

Each to there own though, and as long as you get enjoyment from your plot and grow some tasty vegetables, that's all that matters!

                  Diversify & prosper

Welcome to the vine! The plot looks great, enough to get started with, but enough to get your teeth into as well. Ive only had mine a couple of months, but im really enjoying it, and have met some very nice people down there.
