Default My new plot

Saw my allotment for the first time last night, it's a half plot and although it needs a good digging the weeds don't look too established! Good job it's a bankholiday this weekend!

The allotments next to me look well loved and I'm looking forward to a successul batch of winter crops. Thoughts Leeks, Kale, Brussels, Spinach, Onions, Broad Beans. Any others?

Any tips to get started? Plan to spend an hour every night this week digging, pulling out weeds, get one bed ready for winter crops, manure rest of plot ready for the spring.

You've listed the three main categories of vegetables so you may as well make a planting plan, bearing in mind crop rotation, and plant accordingly!

Don't overdo it on the Bank holiday weekend though!

Welcome to the vine!

Welcome firsttimersue. As mentioned earlier, don't try too much at once. Doing one bed at a time will make the job seem a lot easier. You could always try covering part of the lottie with cardboard or something to help keep weeds down.
