  • Kevin McCloud's Grand Design

    Did anyone watch this tonight.

He was going to carve up an old allotment site! But the villagers put in applications for Village Green Status to try and stop him.

I just thought I'd record it for the future, in case anyone sees it and wants to try the same.

    Shame on you Kevin.

Yes, we watched it. Was a little strange to see him out of his depth.

He did say that the allotments had already been relocated...

Yup, because the council wanted to build houses...wonder if anyone on here had to uproot and move because of them.

I might get our lot to apply for Village Green Status for a bit of land near here that is being sold off by a trust....we thought it would make a great community garden.

All those times he berated the house builders and he goes and makes the same mistakes - and worse, houses that maybe can't be insured.

I've lot alot of respect for him tonight...to be honest.

Wonder how PB feels about it?

At least he was prepared to put his money where his mouth is. I admire him for that.

It did make me laugh - he is usually so smug when talking to people on Grand Designs, and it was amusing to see him having issues, and problems with the weather etc

I'll have to watch it on 40D later. Its one of my fav programmes so he'd better not cock it up!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

At the end of the programme, it seemed to me it was a housing assn that was underwriting it...it's not all his money.

He didn't even have a business plan when he went to councils asking for land.

There's a house by you zaz, looks to be loads of land around it - boarded up, but its quite impressive. If I won the lotto, we'd be neighbours

If it's the one I'm thinking of - they are trying to sell it for the same reason...it has a fabulous damson tree in the garden but you can't get to them from the public areas.

I admit I was gob-smacked at the lack of a business plan - thought he had a bit more 'nouse' than that.
