  • I have an allotment

I put my name on the waiting list for 3 local sites in September and was not expecting anything too soon due to long waiting lists. Then last week I had a phone call I was top of the list and even better I could choose from 3 plots. I chose a corner plot which was cultivated last year but the guy who had it gave it up through ill health, so the plot is not too bad. I have managed to get 7 hours on the plot and have dug about a quarter of it (3 hours digging = 14 weight watchers activity points bonus!). I have decided to dig the whole plot over then I can think about beds and paths. I cant wait to start planting I have put a couple of pics in my album.

Exact words I was going to use. That Nicos is brill.

My only suggestion is if you are thinking about paths, from looking at your pics, a long single path the length of your plot would be the business allowing you to reach the middle of the beds with a hoe or similar either from the path or from the other side of the beds.

The link to the first pic of the allotment section of your album didn't work but the other twp pics were super. Make sure to let us have more pics as you make progress.

          me too!

Hi, ive just got one too, had my name on the list for years!
Not done anything on it yet though, just fixing up a donated petrol strimmer so i can get stuck in, very overgrown at the moment!
Want to get it sorted for the up-coming season and get some veg in there, looking forward to the hard labour if im honest!

Good effort with the digging, keep up the good work!

Fanatastic, well done ! I was delighted when I found 3 hours of gardening is 14 points, am hoping to get to my allotment tomorrow as could do with some activity points after the weekend. I'm 40lbs lighter than I was in July last year. We got our allotment this time last year and I'm sure all the exercise has contributed significantly to my weight loss .

Great effort with the digging. I love looking back at a freshly dug plot, it's so satisfying.

                Congrats, and enjoy the plot.

Congrats!! What a coincidence, I put my name down in September and when I reached the top of the list a couple of weeks ago I had the choice of three plots (and also picked the best one)!!!

Wait for a plot for ages and three come along at once!!

1 bottle of wine = 18 points therefore only had to use 4 of my daily points

Six weeks on and I have updated my photos (see my link) my plot is nearly all dug over. By hand and does my back know about it......but as I have read from other poeple I know exactly what my soil is like and where my problem areas are. The feeling I have now looking at the plot is great :-)

If the weather holds for the weeken I hope to have it all dug over woooooo hooooo now time to start about starting some seeds off.

It's been three years since I last posted regarding my allotment since then it's gone from strength to strength won best new plot came 8th in Birmingham and won a few prizes at the annual competition. But best of all are the people on the allotment we have banter, laughter, and many social events we are having a bake off shortly. One thing which is annoying is that the council are stopping us from cooking on sight, having an Easter egg hunt etc.Is anyone else experiencing any problems with their respective councils?
