finger tines on rotovator

  • finger tines on rotovator

    Hi everyone i am new to this site and fairly new to allotment growing,i have bought a rotovator with finger tines,can anyone tell me what these tines are for?.i have dug my plot and my intention was to break the soil down with these tines,am i on the right track? many thanks

    have you got photos of the tines or can you find some on sale on fleabay that you can point us at?

        They make a finer crumb ( tilth???- is that the right word??)

        So you use them in the final rotovation.
        I found that they also picked up stray weeds which had been turned over- so they tended to clog if you've not removed the bulk of the weeds/roots.

                  These wouldn't work to break down the soil after digging BB as the OP said they would be used for. They do look very similar to the dethatching tines available for the Mantis Tillers. I can't quite read from the Pic. Is that a Mantis?

                    Yep,it's a Mantis AP & those tines really do get thatch & moss out of my lawn,I really must get myself organised enough to follow up with the scarifier attachment this year though

                      I have a small petrol scarifier, can't remember the name of it off hand but it has a 2hp B&S engine on it. It makes dethatching a real dawdle. If it ever dies, I'll consider the attachments to fit to my mantis

                        Got my 2 stroke Mantis (second hand) a couple of years back,came with :-

                        Wheels
                        Edging tool
                        Wire wheel
                        Cultivator
                        Planter
                        Scarifier
                        De-thatcher
                        & ALL the associated manuals

                            If you have ordinary digging tines, go over it with them first and then with these others.
