I have a leaky hose irrigation system that runs from my water tank.He-Pep! -
I'm not sure that you would have enough pressure to operate a drip irrigation system. I use one from the garden water pipe which first goes through a filter and then through a pressure reducer.Comment

even though we have piped water down the allotment i don't think the committee would ok me hooking up to the tap , if i raise the ibc up 3 sleepers high it should give me a minimum 3 psi of pressure

That's the beauty of dripped systems, you don't need pressure as you do for spray ones. I run soaker hose and drippers off water butts. No need for filters as its rainwater and obviously no pressure reducer required as you're low pressure already.Originally posted by boatsman View Post

Yes, a basic H*ze**ck one, I program it to come on for an hour or two each morning in summer in my polytunnel. The pressure is very low, but there's just enough to keep the soil from drying out.Originally posted by Dalrimple View PostHe-Pep!Comment

Mally i bought from four different companys only one was UK based (timer £11) ,
the others where from Hongong and China ,the best buy was a complete set up, pipe ,25 drip ends ,some tees ,stakes, and 3/4bsp hose conector on offer about £5!
if you go on to the Longest river in the world company and type in Drip irigation and electric water timers theres loads , but search through because there's offers to be found don't grap the first ones you come across .

I've tried a few of the cheaper systems and didn't get on with them. At home I now have a Gardena system, with a timer feeding a fertilizer attachment, then a pressure reducer into a manifold then off to each individual circuit of drippers and sprayers.
I can control greenhouse and outside independently for if the weather is wet or dry. This year I plan to add a manifold before the reducer to feed (full pressure) pop up lawn sprinklers.
However at the allotment I don't have water, but have 2 huge troughs (IBC sized) so I will try the old drippers on there as my main issue was reducing the pressure enough for them to work!!Comment
