Grow Your Own Magazine

I know this is a bit late in the year, but Ive been so busy working on my lottie that I havent had time to touch my back garden.

I planted some rye grass as a green manure last year and have just got round to digging it over for the first time.

Boy! Its hard work! Yes, I know I'm a year older, but, and this sounds daft, It reminds me of digging the whole thing over when I started.

Right - Ive now got very large lumps of soil and grass in my beds - what is the best way to break it down into more manageable lumps, the smaller the better then I can eventually get round to planting something!

I've often wondered that as well dexter The year before last I had a load of muck and last year had loads of problems with weeds so I vowed never again but what do you do as an alternative. Our soils is really shallow & stoney and dries out in no time so I really need to use it I think - bummer
