Default chicken advice

can anyone out there help with this?we have some re-shooting parsnips & salsify where we are putting our chicken run,are these ok to leave for the chooks to munch on or will we be having chicken stew for weeks on end?

Don't know about salsify but my chooks only go for carrot tops and leave parsnips. Are they bad for them then?

Both are edible by humans.....

Wouldn't the hens leave what they don't want/like? Yes I know they will dig them up and destroy them... but will they eat them?
