Default Bean Support

I have grown 3 types of beans in the greenhouse; runner, fine and bolotti. My question concerns the later 2, what sort of support do they need when planted out? The packets offered no guidance. Advice so far is that they are relatively short plants and will need a simple stake. Is this good advice?

Borlotti come in dwarf and climbing varieties. If they're climbing they will need tall canes just like runner beans. If dwarf they don't need tall canes, but will appreciate some support. 3 or 4 foot canes round the edge of the pots and twine (string) round the outside of the cane circle should do.
