Sorry, no pic, but my first dahlia is open. I had forgotten about them and didn't bother to dig the tubers up to store over winter.
Doesn't seem to have done them any harm at all. The snails had a go when it was wet, but they have managed to get to flowering with no intervention from me at all.

I'd better stake them now, as the flowers are so big they topple the plant over in a high wind. How To Grow Dahlias
