Firstly, welcome aboard.

In terms of books, you'll find we all have our favourites and require different things from the books we use.

I myself am also fairly new to this (been doing it for just over a year) and when I first started I rushed out and bought several books, and asked for other books like yourself, for presents.

My most used book however is this one: Amazon.co.uk: Vegetable and Herb Expert: D.G. Hessayon: Books

It's straightforward and easy to use as a reference guide with nice simple instructions and illustrations.

I also have Carol Klein's Grow Your Own Veg, which has some useful and inspiring information, much the same as The Allotment Book by Andi Clevely.

I have found that they show the "ideal" in these books, sometimes just not achieveable on your plot, but it's good for inspiration and guidance.

Over and above any book though, I have found this place the biggest source if guidance, support and inspiration. So stick around.

Good luck.
