Have you thought of renting? Ours went bang about 4 years ago and we did'nt have the money for a new one. I phoned a local electrical retailer and asked about renting. I had to pay one months rent in advance and the same again as a deposit, total of £31. Got a brand new machine delivered at the end of the week. I pay £15.50 for it a month, and if anything goes wrong servicing/repairing and parts is free as part of the rental agreement.
Hand washing all our stuff in the bath was no picnic!!
