Hoe Hello Newbie. Work the hoe back and forth with the blade just under the surface of the soil so that you chop off the heads off of the weeds or kick their feet out from underneath them which ever way you look at it. As has been said before, if the weather is dry and warm just leave them where they lie. If the soil is wet some will re-root.
The idea is to sever the weed from its roots, if the hoe is to deep you merely bring the weed and its roots to the surface where in can continue growing if the ground is wet.
Hope this makes sense. At the end of the day anything that checks their growth has got to be a good thing.
